So today is New Year's Eve and it's snowing like crazy outside.  We are going to a friend's house this evening and hopefully the snow will stop before then.  I did manage to get into my studio this morning and work on the picture currently on my easel.  I recently tidied the studio and laid out all the new pastels that I was given for Christmas - it's all very organized now - a far cry from the situation before the big tidy-up!

Rocks at Rest

This was a picture done in a weekend pastel workshop.  I believe the photograph reference was taken in Maine.

This is my only record of this picture as I cleaned it off and reused the paper!

Surf's Up

July 2008
This the Ogunquit shoreline from the Marginal Way.

The circle in the middle is actually the flash from my camera not the sun or the moon reflected.  I had already framed this picture before taking the photograph.

English Village Pond

July 2008
The village of Aldbury, Hertfordshire, England.

Mist over Pemaquid

June 2008
The Pemaquid peninsula, Maine.

Just Floating Around

June 2008
A great crested Grebe on the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park, London, England.

This is actually painted on a piece of auto body sand paper - the finest grit available.  It was an experiment to see how it would take the pastel, but I realize that it's not archival.

Cream Lily

June 2008

My son and daughter in law in England wanted a picture of a cream lily to hang on their newly decorated walls so I did this one for them and took it over on my last visit.

Bell Tower Ruin

May 2008
A bell tower in the village of Baux in the South of France.

So this is the high spot of my artistic career so far. After working in pastels for just three short months I entered this picture in the town art show and won second prize. It encouraged me to persevere with my new hobby.

Early Spring

April 2008
These were growing in our front lawn under a tree that has since been taken down.  Unfortunately the taking down of the tree resulted in the little crocus bulbs being scattered or buried so deep that they'll never see the light of day again!

This is my first attempt at blogging.  I hope I can have the discipline to post on a regular basis.
