In March 2008 I made the suprising discovery that I had a little artistic talent which had been lying dormant all my life. I started with simple still life subjects but as time went on I progressed to more complex subjects. The only medium I paint in is pastels which I love. They do tend to be messy but I love the immediacy of the work, involving no mixing with turps or water, just pure pigment directly applied and mixed right there on the paper. Carol Conrad

I've been working on this during the past week. My husband was keen for me to do it even though it's not my usual choice of subjects, and I did enjoy the process although it wasn't without it's challenges. I took the photo on a day trip to Maine in September. I think I'm going to frame this one and put it in our bathroom.
