In March 2008 I made the suprising discovery that I had a little artistic talent which had been lying dormant all my life. I started with simple still life subjects but as time went on I progressed to more complex subjects.
The only medium I paint in is pastels which I love. They do tend to be messy but I love the immediacy of the work, involving no mixing with turps or water, just pure pigment directly applied and mixed right there on the paper.

I just finished this one today. It's a picture of Lavender fields in Provence. It was fun to do...it's always fun working with bright colors. The photo was not taken by me, but I loved it. It's a pastel painting, size 16 x 20 on sanded pastel paper.
A nice picture, not far from Lake Dartmoor, there must be plenty of name places that remind you of your birth place in Devon. When I look at your work it reminds me of Glen Campbell’s “Ghost on the Canvas”.
